Party Candidate Pawan Bansal campaigns in marketplaces

Congress flags could be seen all over Sectors 7 and 8 where party candidate, Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal launched his door to door campaign on Monday afternoon. Braving rainy weather, Mr. Bansal went around the inner markets of these sectors and met each and every shopkeeper there.

Amidst the beating of dhols and shouting of slogans in favour of the Congress and Mr. Bansal, shopkeepers welcomed him and other senior Congress leaders accompanying him with garlands. He got tremendous support from them and got assurance that what will fetch him votes was his performance of the last 15 years, which had changed the face of city markets.

While he shook hands with everyone as he met around, many shoppers were also delighted and wanted to have a glimpse of Mr. Bansal. Even the roadside vendors hugged Mr. Bansal while at many places he was lifted up and assured of full support.

Meanwhile, during a public meeting in Timber Market, Mr. Bansal said over the years a lot had changed and he felt there was a need for bigger transport area. He said BJP was trying to divert the attention of people by saying no big project has come in city because they have nothing to talk about. “It’s for the voters to decide the fate of Chandigarh and only development and progress made in city and all across the nation that people will be the deciding factor. They talk about projects, but ignore the development in field on health, education and infrastructure in city”, said Mr. Bansal.

Former mayor, Mr. Subhash Chawla while addressing the gathering said he has been associated with transport area since many years and could vouch for votes from the entire transport area. “Today the transport area wears a new look with better roads and other facilities. People know about the works being done by Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal on one hand and outsider from the opposition who isn’t even aware of how many sectors are there in city”, he said, adding, “Will you call her from Mumbai if there’s a small issue which needs to be resolved with personal intervention”, while referring to BJP candidate Kirron Kher.

Mr. K.K. Abrol, President of the Transport Association of Chandigarh among others also spoke on the occasion.

Kaimbwala villagers have assured they would vote only for the Congress seeing the development in the last 15 years. In a public meeting, addressed by Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal the villagers turned out in large numbers.

Mr. Bansal said Congress had contributed a lot for the development of city and to carry forward the process of progress they should vote for the party. Among those present there included Fathehgarh Sahib MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra, Sarpanch Dalip Kumar, Chairman Zila Parishad Kuldip Singh, Panchayat Samiti Member cum Panch Ram Narayan, Panchayat Samiti Member Krishan Kumar and Panchayat Samiti Member Roop Chand were among several others present.

Mr. Bansal also addressed a rally in Kishangarh, where also he got tremendous support from the villagers. He was welcomed with garlands and slogans assuring him of their support in the elections.

He said he had always considered villagers as important as city when it came to development. Coming down heavily on BJP he said his opponents of BJP and AAP parties were completely unaware of city issues and still contesting polls.

Mr. Bansal elaborated on the upgrading of government schools in and around city and also the medical services, which brings people from other parts of the country here. He said Panjab University today is among top 100 universities of the world and sector 22 polyclinic had been upgraded besides more facilities at Sector 32 GMCH and upgradation of Manimajra hospital.

Among prominent present there included Sarpanch Kulwinder Kaur, Panch Jaswinder Kumar Soni, Panch Jaswant Singh, Panch Kuldip Singh, Panch Harmel Singh, Panch Babloo, Zila Parishad Member Manoj Lubana, Block Samiti Member Kiran Devi and Satbir Singh.

The Congress Padyatra today reached village Faidan. Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal who led the Padyatra was welcomed by villagers. Party workers and leaders present there informed the villagers about the achievements of UPA government and they assured their full support, as city villages are now at par with city because of initiatives taken by Mr. Bansal for development.
